Forty Days Forty Nights

When someone said “there is an entertainment in Istanbul”, it continued for forty days and forty nights. One could have find a reason for fun. Weddings, births, victories, conquests… There have been the indispensable symbols of these ceremonies which can still be recognized. For example, especially, “Nahil”, a tree of life or wedding candle was the most important symbol of weddings. It meant the power of masculinity or the fertility of femininity. Some were like a very tall pyramid. They were ornate with wax human and animal figures, flowers, fruits, precious stones and gilded papers. They were so impressive and amazing and took a lot of talent that they were considered a part of the Ottoman fine arts.
